Pop any Module

It is a Joomla tool that opens another module (like Login or Contact) in a popup window when someone clicks a button, link, or image — without leaving the page.

Install the package so you have both.

• Plugin — required for shortcodes in articles, and required for Lazy Load (AJAX).
• Module — optional. Use it when you want a backend-configured trigger in a module position (header, sidebar, etc.).

Many sites use both: shortcodes on some pages, module triggers on others.

Version 3.1 supports Joomla 4, 5, and 6 only. Joomla 3 is not supported.

1. Administrator → System → Install → Extensions
2. Upload pkg_popanymodule_3.1.zip
3. Enable Content - Pop Any Module under Plugins
4. Clear cache

Go to Content → Site Modules. Open (or hover) the module you want inside the popup. The ID is the number in the list or in the admin URL (example: id=16). Use that number as id="16".

Self-closing shortcode in an article:

{popanymodule id="16" text="Open Login" class="ibtn ibtn-primary" lazy="true"}

Required: id. Common options: text, class, icon, image, lazy, hash, hashslug, rel, popwidth, popheight.

Old names width/height still work and map to popwidth/popheight.

1. Content → Site Modules → New → Pop Any Module
2. Choose Target Module (what opens inside the popup)
3. Choose Trigger Type: Text/Button or Image
4. Set link text / classes (example: ibtn ibtn-primary)
5. Pick a Position and Menu Assignment
6. Publish and Save

Turn Lazy Load ON only if the content plugin is enabled.

The content plugin is probably disabled. Enable Content - Pop Any Module, then clear cache and refresh the page.

• Target module ID is correct and the module is Published
• Plugin is enabled (especially if Lazy Load is ON)
• Clear Joomla cache and hard-refresh the browser
• Check for JavaScript errors from other extensions in the browser console

With lazy load ON, the popup content is downloaded only when the visitor first opens the popup (via AJAX). This keeps the page lighter. It needs the content plugin enabled. Shortcode example: lazy="true".

Enable hash links and set a slug, for example hash="true" hashslug="login-form". Opening the popup updates the URL to #login-form. Sharing or reloading that URL can reopen the popup.

Give two or more triggers the same rel="my-gallery" (or the same Gallery Group in the module). Visitors can use next/prev arrows and swipe between those popups.

Yes. Shortcode: image="images/photo.jpg" alt="Open" overlaytext="Sign in" overlayeffect="slide-up". In the site module, set Trigger Type to Image and pick the media file.

Add class="ibtn ibtn-primary" on the shortcode, or put the same classes in the module’s Extra CSS Classes field. Keep Modern theme and Modern Button Styling ON if you want the filled pill style.

Modern is the recommended 2026 look (blur overlay, rounded panel). Classic is the older Fancybox style. Set the theme in the plugin or module settings (not only in the shortcode).

Yes — any published site module. You cannot open Pop Any Module inside itself (that is blocked on purpose).

Yes. Popups fit the viewport. Gallery swipe works when Gallery Swipe is enabled.

Set a clear height such as popheight="560px". Values like 85vh mean “up to 85% of the screen,” not 85 pixels. After lazy load, wait for content to finish loading.

Plugin assets: plugins/content/popanymodule/assets/. Module assets: modules/mod_popanymodule/assets/. When both are installed, the plugin assets are preferred.

Clear Joomla cache (System → Clear Cache), then hard-refresh the browser (Ctrl+F5). If the module uses caching, set Caching to No Caching temporarily.
